Product Quality
About the integrity or our product and the process we use to create them.
Our decanters are laser etched to order by our family business in the United States.
Laser etching is a process in which a laser light heats the surface of glass until it creates micro fractures in the surface in a controlled manner which then refracts light giving it a frosted appearance. The result is a smooth to the touch and permanently marked design or message that will last a lifetime.
We believe this process to be superior to sand blasting because of the fine detail that the laser can achieve and superior to acid etching because it eliminates the use of toxic chemicals.
Never. Unlike screen printing which is an additive process and which by nature has markings that will ultimately wash away, etching is a reductive process that removes bits of glass and can therefore never be undone.
Correct, this isn’t the etching washing off but rather it may have been saturated with an oily substance. It is possible for oil from fingertips to get underneath the etching and be hard to remove. In the rare case that discoloring occurs, we recommend using a household degreaser to spray on the spot and to scrub with a coarse but not abrasive material (no steel wool). We often use denim from an old pair of jeans. Additionally, Hi-Sheen is a foaming glass degreaser that we have had good luck with cleaning the etching in the past.
It’s the best. We exclusively use Trotec laser machines, known in the industry as the Bentley’s of the laser industry. They are the absolute top of the line machines that produce elite results well worth their investment.
Your decanter is made directly by us. We are a small (but growing!) production team of experts working together in our studio in Northern California.
Our process is never outsourced.
While we mainly use glass bottles that are manufactured in the U.S., some of our unique shapes could only be imported from designers in Italy, Austria and Turkey.
Why Spirit Decanters?
Spirit decanters offer an elevated aesthetic that transform any ordinary home bar into a center piece of home decor reminiscent of a bygone era.
No way! Unlike wine, distilled spirits do not oxidize or change with exposure to air. The main concern is that alcohol evaporates quickly (called the angel's share) but we upgraded our stoppers to ensure an air tight seal to keep your precious spirits safe and secure.
While there are no hard and fast rules regarding bottle shape, we have become accustomed to some distillates being associated with some styles. We have designed our bottles so that you can interchange the spirit title on any bottle shape to best suit your personal aesthetic.
Personalization
Customize your decanter with names, dates or a special message to make a unique gift that will last a lifetime.
We have created our own customization engine to create a step by step process with templates for you to easily create your custom etching. Simply select which bottle shape or design collection and follow the steps to input your unique information, be it names, dates or a special message.
Each collection also includes a video of co-founder Tanessa Daw guiding you through each step of the process just like she would in person.
No worries? We hand craft your custom design to make it look just perfect. And while we continue to update our website to recreate the seamless customization experience we once offered only face-to-face, we do at times run into the limitations of a website.
But never fear, we won’t ship your personalized decanter unless it is designed to perfection.
Of course! Use our customization engine for each decanter collection to modify your decanter. Choose to customize the front side instead of a spirit title like Bourbon or Vodka; customize the backside with a monogram, couple's commemoration, private reserve or open text; or do both!

No problem! Just go through the step by step customization of whichever style decanter that suits you and in the personalization field type in the Intention number and titles (e.g. Inebriated Intention #1: Sinatra). Then we will make it exactly as you see it on the Inebriated Intentions product page.
Alternatively, if you would like the font to match that of the front side of your decanter, just copy and paste the intention text and format the font and sizing however you’d like.
We can etch almost anything that is black and white. We currently do not have the capacity to etch color images, but if you have a logo, line drawing or other image that looks great in B&W, Contact us! (.jpg or .ai files are best, but we can work with many types)

Heck yes! Our decanters really work well as a team and we encourage you to start a collection of your own. If you purchase any 2 decanters from a collection, the third will be yours at only half price! The discount will automatically be applied in your cart.
Unfortunately, no. We designed each collection as a cohesive set and offer the discount to encourage our customers to have the full experience of our decanter sets.
Unfortunately no. Only one discount can be applied per purchase but the buy 2, get the 3rd half off is a better deal than any other discount we offer.

Payment Info
Absolutely! RecEtch does not directly interact with your credit card or save your information. Our transactions are brokered by e-commerce giant, Shopify which is PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliant and employs top level payment data encryption.
We take all major credit cards in addition to ApplePay, GooglePay & ShopPay for express checkout convenience.
No problem. We never include pricing on any of our paperwork. In fact, we are committed to sustainability and prefer not to include any paperwork making this a paperless transaction. Let’s all save a tree, right. All of our orders are saved permanently electronically and you need only reference your order number for any post purchase inquiries.
We do include a packing slip with the item information if the purchaser is different from the receiver to ensure that they know who the gift is from. If you leave a message in the ‘Notes’ field at checkout this will print on your packing slip and be included with your purchase. But we also offer laser engraved wooden cards for that extra touch to make a gift really special.

Most of our decanters are a standard 750ml. Your typical bottle of spirits will fit perfectly. (Top secret: cheap booze magically tastes better from a fancy decanter!)
Our Mid Century decanters are slightly smaller at 700ml, leaving just enough for that first cocktail you so deserve.

We have upgraded! We now offer all of our collections with a new branded wooden stoppers. This combines the aesthetics of a warm wood with a synthetic stopper that creates a tight seal and never taint your precious spirits.
Our Mid Century decanters come with our own glass stoppers cast one by one from Bay Area glass artist Jason Stropko.

Shipping
We trust UPS & the USPS for our safely shipping our decanters to your home.
All of our products are made to order specifically for you. We typically ask for 1 week of production time + shipping time. If you need it by a specific day please send us an email and we will make sure that you get it on time.
You will receive an automated message both when your order is placed and when it ships. If you did not receive a confirmation email with your order number, please check your spam folder. AOL and Yahoo accounts often filter out our messages unfortunately. When you order ships the confirmation email will contain a tracking number.
We typically ship via UPS b/c we have found them to be the most reliable. We offer free ground shipping through UPS from our production studio in Northern California. Click here for a map of standard ground shipping transit times.
We use a 200 lb crush tested craft paper box that meets ASTM D5118 and is recommended for contents up to 40 lbs. Our decanters weight just over 2 lbs so there is an abundance of safety here.
No worries! Send us a message and select an expedited shipping service. We can sometimes fulfill an order in 48 hours or less but we only do if you have notified us with the request. We may recommend an upgrade if shipping service if necessary but can send you a payment request through our webstore but only if absolutely necessary.
No way! We have 8 years of shipping glass under our belts.
We've all seen the YouTube videos of the delivery guy throwing boxes over the fence and we've come up with a method to safely secure our bottles to withstand even the roughest treatment. If anything, we are over protective!
For the most reliable shipping, please use a residential or business address. Thanks!
Returns and Exchanges
We do!
Our return policy is valid for 30 days for refund or exchange.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
Customized products are non-returnable.
Gift cards are non-returnable.
Items that are returned are subject to a 10% restocking fee.
Please contact us to initiate a return.
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the status of your refund.
If everything is in order and your refund is approved, then a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within 7 days.
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next, contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.
If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please contact us at info@reclamationetchworks.com and we will do all we can to resolve the issue.
If you would like to replace an item that is not personalized and exchange it for another item, we are happy to facilitate this. We will not be able to offer free shipping on exchanges. Thanks!
